‘Tart and refreshing, an edgy pinot noir that isn’t shy of balsamic lift though bolsters the wine with flushes of red cherry, blackcurrant, raspberry and alpine herbs. It’s got a wild streak, but that is ok, it works well in being uplifting and vivid as a portrayal of the variety. I splashed some in a tumbler, slightly cool, and that felt great; I went back for seconds. This is a good vibe in that regard. Hang the variety, drink the good times.’ Mike Bennie, The Wine Front

Vineyard - Dash Farms in Faraday on the fashionable Macedon side of Bendigo. An elevated, cool, sheltered valley where fruit ripens at a measured pace on a granitic soil - there are cresting reefs of granite rising between the vine rows.

Winemaking - 20% of the fruit was placed in the bottom of the fermenters, the rest gently destemmed over the top. There was no plunging, just cap rolling. Wild yeasts were allowed to complete the fermentation, maceration was 20 days. Pressed to predominantly older neutral French oak barrels, with a couple of second and third fill barrels in the mix. Maturation was 9 months. The clones (MV6 and D5V12) were vinified separately and blended prior to bottling. No additions apart from sulphur, no fining or filtration. Vegan friendly.

Label - Detail from a charcoal and crayon nude; the point of the hip. Or a terrain map of a lake beside a forest. Or a grape cross section. Or a lunar crater. Or a bubble rising in a dream.

Available in 6 packs and 12 packs. 10% off 12 packs.
